How to choose fiberglass tape correctly?

Oct 13, 2025

The residue-free fiber tape uses high-strength glass fiber yarn or cloth as the reinforcing material, PET film (OPP film) as the base material, and specially configured high-performance pressure-sensitive synthetic rubber as the adhesive, and is made through process treatment and coating.

Applications include moving household appliances with moving parts, such as plastic pallets in refrigerators. Since the tape leaves no adhesive residue, securing it with residue-free fiberglass tape prevents damage from shaking during transport. End users also don't need to remove residual adhesive, as is the case with tape that leaves residue.

Household appliance packaging: For example, packaging for metal and wooden furniture, like refrigerators and washing machines, and cardboard packaging.

Single-sided striped or mesh fiberglass tape uses a transparent PET film backing, a specialized pressure-sensitive adhesive, and a fiberglass reinforcement layer, providing strong tensile strength and adhesion.

Product Features:
1. The transparent PET base material is reinforced with longitudinal glass fibers, providing high tensile strength and resistance to friction, scratches, and moisture.
2. The specially formulated high-performance adhesive layer ensures optimal adhesion to most materials and leaves no residue or oil marks after removal.
3. The specially formulated high-performance adhesive layer has a wide temperature range, allowing application in a variety of environments, from winter (above 0°C) to summer. Once applied, it maintains good adhesion across a wider temperature range.
4. Text or advertising can also be printed on the transparent PET film to meet various needs.

Applications:
1. Packaging steel or heavy objects, sealing cartons, etc.
2. Protecting and manufacturing items such as model airplanes and cricket bats.
3. Bundling items with irregular surfaces.

Double-sided mesh fiber tape is primarily composed of release paper (film), fiberglass mesh, and hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive.

Product Features:
1. A fiberglass mesh layer between the adhesive layers enhances the tape's longitudinal and lateral stability.
2. Excellent bonding performance across a wide temperature range.
3. Suitable for bonding a wide range of materials, including rubber, PP/PE, PBT/PET, ABS, PMMA, general plastics, metal, and inorganic glass.

Applications:
1. For bonding door and window seals.
2. For bonding door edge and door bottom seals.
3. For bonding luggage linings to metal or plastic.

What should I pay attention to when identifying fiber tape?
1. Color: Fiber tape itself is mostly composed of a transparent PET polyester base film and white glass fiber yarns, coated with a high-performance pressure-sensitive adhesive.
2. The overall color is off-white. To minimize costs, some manufacturers use low-quality glue, which is less stable and easily ages and turns yellow.
3. Fiber tape is generally recommended to be used after about six months and should be stored in a well-ventilated, dry environment at room temperature (around 25°C).
4. Adhesive surface flatness: An uneven surface will result in uneven adhesive distribution, causing wrinkling and rebounding during use.
5. Yarn straightness: Yarn straightness directly affects the tensile strength of the fiber tape, which can have serious consequences for the current heavy-duty packaging and strapping industry, especially for steel strapping.
