Fiberglass tape is made from a polyester film backing, reinforced with glass fiber strands or a polyester fiber braid, and coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive. Some companies also choose BOPP instead of PET to reduce costs.
Common fiber tapes are divided into two types: striped fiber tape and grid fiber tape, depending on the arrangement of the fibers. By adjusting the number of strands, density, and peel strength of the adhesive, various requirements for tensile strength and viscosity of the bundle can be met, and custom designs can be produced to meet the user's needs.
Fiber tape boasts excellent abrasion and moisture resistance, strong breaking strength, and a unique pressure-sensitive adhesive layer with exceptional long-lasting adhesion and special properties, making it widely applicable. Its diverse properties make single-sided fiber tape economically suitable for sealing, bundling, and securing production lines in industries such as packaging, industrial, electronics, and home appliances. Residue-free fiber tape is widely used for securing and bundling refrigerators, computers, fax machines, and thin steel plates.
Fiber tape has a relatively long service life, but basic maintenance is still required:
1. Fiber tape should be stored in a warehouse, protected from sunlight and rain; avoid contact with acids, alkalis, oils, and organic solvents. Keep it clean and dry, 1 meter away from the conveyor belt, and at room temperature between -15°C and 40°C.
2. When loading and unloading conveyor belts, it is best to use a crane and slings with crossbeams to lift them steadily to prevent damage to the belt edges. Avoid rough loading and unloading, which may cause the roll to loosen and fall off.
3. Fiber tape should be stored in rolls, not folded. If stored for extended periods, turn it over quarterly.
4. Fiber tapes of different types, specifications, strengths, and plies should not be spliced (assembled) together.
5. For conveyor belt joints, hot vulcanized bonding is recommended to improve stability and maintain high effective strength.
6. The type and specifications of the fiber tape should be selected based on the application requirements and specific conditions.
7. The conveyor roller diameter and the minimum pulley diameter of the conveyor belt must meet the relevant requirements. When the conveyor is equipped with baffles and cleaning devices, they should prevent wear on the fiber belt.
8. Do not allow the fiber belt to snake or creep. Maintain flexible drag rollers and vertical rollers, and maintain appropriate tension.
9. If initial damage to the fiber belt is observed during use, the cause should be identified and repaired immediately to prevent adverse effects.
10. Cleanliness is essential for the proper operation of the fiber belt. Foreign matter can cause belt eccentricity, tension variations, and even breakage.
