In our daily lives, we're all very familiar with tape, often using it to stick things together. However, most people use transparent tape, and some use black tape for electrical work. Fiberglass tape is actually quite rare, and even if you do see it, you might not recognize it, and the name might not match the actual product.
Fiberglass tape is made from a PET/OPP film backing, reinforced with glass fiber yarn or fiberglass mesh, and coated with a hot-melt adhesive. Therefore, fiberglass tape made with glass fiber yarn is called striped fiberglass tape, while fiberglass tape made with glass fiber mesh is called mesh fiberglass tape. These are all single-sided fiberglass tapes. In addition, there are also double-sided fiberglass mesh tapes made with higher-strength fiberglass mesh cloth.
Product Features of Fiberglass Tape:
1. Fiber-reinforced backing material with extremely high tensile strength and resistance to breakage.
2. Highly abrasion and moisture-resistant.
3. High transparency.
4. Strong adhesion for perfect packaging without loosening.
5. The tape will never debond, leaving glue stains or discoloration on the surface.
Fiberglass tape has a wide range of uses and properties. It's widely used in household appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, and fax machines, as well as for securing metal and plastic components and during the production of large and small transformers.
Common applications for fiberglass tape:
- First, for heavy metal objects and steel wrapping, fiberglass tape's unique properties make it a strong, unbreakable alternative to rope. Single-sided fiberglass tape, either striped or gridded, is recommended.
- Second, for common packaging and sealing applications. Fiberglass tape is an upgraded version of scotch tape, offering enhanced strength, packaging support, and stronger adhesion.
- Third, securing and bonding furniture and work tools requires strength, unbreakable strength, and durability. Single-sided fiberglass tape is generally recommended for this application.
- The fourth type of tape is used to secure large appliances. This is used when moving appliances with moving parts, such as plastic trays in refrigerators. Fiberglass tape has strong adhesion, is tensile and abrasion-resistant, and seals large appliances to prevent damage from shaking during transport. It also leaves no adhesive residue, ensuring long-term use. The tape used here is a residue-free tape specifically designed for temporary appliance securing.
- Finally, there is the fiberglass double-sided tape used in the construction industry. Grid fiber double-sided tape is an important component of EPDM sealing strips, ensuring that EPDM adheres to doors and windows for a long time without falling off.
