Is fiberglass mesh afraid of fire? How to determine the quality of mesh cloth and the burning characteristics of various fiber fabrics:
1. Cotton, hemp, bamboo, and other plant fibers and viscose fibers (the main component is cellulose): burn easily, produce yellow and blue flames, and have the smell of burning paper or grass. The ashes are gray and fly easily.
2. Wool and silk (protein): burn slowly and smoke slowly; shrink into a ball when burning, with a special burnt smell; the ashes are in the shape of small balls and break into pieces when pressed.
3. Synthetic fibers:
⑴ Nylon: melts while burning, with no smoke or slight white smoke. The flame is small and blue. It smells like burnt celery, and the ashes are light brown small hard beads that are not easy to crush.
⑵ Polyester: When burning, it curls, melts, and emits smoke. The flame is yellow-white and has an aromatic smell. The ashes are brown beads that can be crushed by hand.
⑶ Acrylic: It burns slowly and melts at the same time. The flame is bright white, sometimes slightly black smoke, with a fishy smell. The ashes are small black beads, brittle and fragile.
⑷ Vinylon: burns slowly and shrinks quickly. The flame is small, red, with black smoke and a special smell. The ashes are brown beads and can be crushed by hand.
⑸ Chlorine fiber: It is difficult to burn. When it is close to the flame, it shrinks and burns. It extinguishes when it is away from the fire. It has the smell of chlorine and the ashes are black hard lumps.
⑹ Polypropylene: It curls and melts when burning. The flame is bright and blue, with the smell of burning wax. The ash is a hard lump, but it can be crushed.
4. Inorganic fibers
Glass fiber: does not burn, does not change color when melted, ash is natural color, small glass beads.
In life, we often hear the word fiber. But there are many types of fibers, such as polyester, nylon, polypropylene, glass fiber, etc. How do we know which fiber we are seeing? Moreover, different types have different characteristics, so how do we know whether their characteristics are suitable for us? So let’s solve this problem. In fact, it is very easy to identify it. Just burn it.
From the above summary, you can know that fiberglass mesh is non-flammable. In other words, the mesh can block fires.
