There are many types of fiberglass mesh, but the five most commonly used are:
- The first type of fiberglass mesh, also known as fiberglass mesh, insulation mesh, or insulation net, is broadly categorized into four types: standard fiberglass mesh, reinforced fiberglass mesh, flame-retardant fiberglass mesh, and self-adhesive fiberglass mesh.
- The second type of reinforced fiberglass mesh is made from medium-alkali or alkali-free fiberglass woven fabric, treated with an alkali-resistant coating. This product offers high strength and excellent alkali resistance, playing an important structural role in insulation systems, primarily preventing cracks.
- The third type is flame-retardant fiberglass mesh. Flame-retardant cables, flame-retardant skylights, and flame-retardant high-speed polystyrene boards are all very common flame-retardant products. Flame-retardant fiberglass mesh is also very familiar in wall insulation construction. Flame-retardant fiberglass mesh is produced using a combination of flame-retardant and non-flammable materials to achieve superior fire-resistant properties.
- The fourth type is self-adhesive fiberglass mesh. Its excellent resistance to corrosion by acids, alkalis, and other chemicals, as well as its high tensile strength in the warp and weft directions, evenly distributes stress within the exterior wall insulation system, preventing deformation of the entire insulation structure caused by external impacts and compression. This provides the insulation layer with high impact resistance, is easy to install, and ensures quality control, acting as a "soft steel bar" within the insulation system.
- The fifth type is acid- and alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh. Self-adhesive fiberglass caulking tape is made from high-quality fiberglass fabric coated with an acrylic copolymer and then slit. The fiberglass is chemically stable and resistant to oxidation.
