Main production processes of glass fiber

Mar 07, 2026

Glass products can often be seen in life. Glass products enhance their decorative effect and are not only beautiful but also very practical. Although fiberglass cloth does not look like glass, it is really a product made of glass;

Glass fiber is commonly known as glass filament. Its raw material is glass balls or waste glass, which is then made through high-temperature melting, drawing, winding, weaving, and other processes.

There are two main production processes:

  • One: One-time molding pool kiln drawing method

1. First, melt raw materials such as pyrophyllite into a glass solution in a kiln;
2. After removing the bubbles, transport it to the porous drain plate through the passage;
3. High-speed drawing into glass fiber strands;
This process method can connect hundreds of leaky plates through multiple channels for simultaneous production. It has a simple process, energy saving, consumption reduction, stable molding, and high production efficiency;

  • Two types: crucible drawing method with two moldings

1. Firs,t melt the glass raw materials into glass balls at high temperature;
2. Then melt the glass ball again;
3. Glass fiber strands are made through high-speed drawing;
This process method is cumbersome, has high energy consumption, an unstable molding process, and low labor productivity;

From this point of view, the first method is better than the second method. Therefore, strong, large-scale manufacturers generally use the one-time molding pool kiln drawing method, while the two-time molding crucible drawing method is generally used by small manufacturers.
