How to distinguish between high quality and defective fiberglass mesh

High-quality alkali-resistant mesh cloth has three main indicators, namely alkali resistance, tensile strength, and cracking strain. The most important one is alkali resistance. In the case of poor alkali resistance, no matter how high the tensile strength is, the strength will decrease rapidly in the concrete and it will not be able to resist cracking. The alkali resistance of the mesh is mainly achieved by the composition of the mesh yarn and the alkali resistance of the coating glue. However, the quality of alkali-resistant mesh fabrics on the current market varies from good to bad, and the phenomenon of fake and shoddy products is worrying.


The types of fiberglass mesh used in fake mesh cloth are as follows:
One is to use recycled high-alkali cullet glass to pull out the glass fiber yarn in a clay crucible. This kind of yarn has low strength and no alkali resistance, and is prohibited from production by the state;
The second one is pulled out of broken glass balls on a clay crucible. This yarn is very brittle, and the single fiber thickness varies greatly, so the strength cannot be guaranteed;
Third, during the twisting process, the above two yarns, or clay yarn and high-quality platinum yarn are mixed, making it difficult for mesh manufacturers and ordinary consumers to distinguish. However, the difference between mesh fabrics produced from high-quality yarns and inferior yarns can be seen once the alkali resistance test is carried out, and the alkali resistance of inferior products is basically unqualified.
