Common Types and Applications of Fiber Tape in Daily Life

Oct 19, 2025

Fiber tape is reinforced with glass fiber or polyester (PET) fibers. Some companies also choose BOPP instead of PET as a base film to reduce costs. It is then processed and coated with a specially formulated, high-performance, pressure-sensitive synthetic rubber adhesive. Fiber tape offers exceptional breaking strength, excellent abrasion resistance, and moisture resistance. Its unique pressure-sensitive adhesive layer provides long-lasting adhesion and specialized properties, making it suitable for a variety of applications.

Fiber tapes are divided into grid-like and striped types, and there are also single-sided and double-sided tapes.

Features of Single-Sided Fiber Tape:
1. The transparent PET base material is reinforced with longitudinal glass fibers, providing high tensile strength and resistance to friction, scratches, and moisture.
2. The specially formulated high-performance adhesive layer ensures proper adhesion to most materials and leaves no residue or oil marks after removal.
3. The specially formulated high-performance adhesive layer has a wide temperature range, allowing application in both winter (above 0°C) and summer conditions. Once applied, it maintains good adhesion across a wider temperature range.
4. Text or advertising can be printed on the transparent PET film to meet various needs.

Applications of Single-Sided Fiber Tape:
1. Packaging steel or heavy objects, sealing cartons, etc.
2. Protecting and manufacturing items such as model airplanes and cricket bats.
3. Bundling items with irregular surfaces.

Features of Double-Sided Grid Fiber Tape:
1. A fiberglass mesh layer between the adhesive layers enhances the tape's longitudinal and lateral stability.
2. Excellent bonding performance across a wide temperature range.
3. Suitable for bonding a wide range of materials, including rubber, PP/PE, PBT/PET, ABS, PMMA, general plastics, metal, and inorganic glass.

Applications of Double-Sided Grid Fiber Tape:
1. Bonding door and window seals.
2. Bonding door edge and door bottom seals.
3. Bonding luggage linings to metal or plastic.

Features of Non-Residue Tape:
1. Specially formulated high-performance adhesive ensures optimal adhesion to most materials, leaving no residue after removal.
2. Backed with a transparent PET film reinforced with longitudinal fiberglass, the tape offers stable performance.

Applications of Non-Residue Tape:
1. Used in moving household appliances with moving parts, such as plastic pallets in refrigerators. Because the tape leaves no adhesive residue, securing it with non-residue fiberglass tape prevents damage during transportation due to shaking. End users also do not need to remove residual adhesive, as is required with residual tape.
2. Packaging of household appliances: For example, packaging for metal and wooden furniture, such as refrigerators and washing machines, and packaging in cartons.
