There are two types of exterior wall insulation mesh, one is fiberglass mesh and the other is steel mesh.
• Fiberglass mesh:
Fiberglass mesh is woven from glass fiber and then coated with plastic. There are two types of fiberglass mesh: medium-alkali and alkali-resistant. The medium-alkali mesh is generally used for coating decoration insulation, generally in grams/㎡; the alkali-resistant mesh is generally ceramic tiles. For decorative purposes, it is generally above grams/㎡. The alkali-resistant mesh cloth must contain zirconium dioxide and titanium dioxide to be alkali-resistant.
• Wire mesh:
The main purpose of using steel wire mesh for exterior wall insulation is to lay ceramic tiles. In fact, the alkali resistance of steel wire mesh has not been tested in practice. Steel wire mesh is divided into hot-dip galvanized mesh and cold-dip galvanized mesh. The post-hot-dip galvanized mesh is the kind used in exterior wall insulation, that is, it is welded first and then hot-dip galvanized. Hot-dip galvanizing is to put the mesh into molten zinc liquid for galvanizing. This is the most alkali resistant. Others are limited to new welding, so the solder joints are prone to rust and are not resistant to alkali. Cold-dip galvanized mesh cannot be used in exterior wall insulation. Now some cut corners and use cold-dip galvanized mesh. Cold-dip galvanizing is galvanizing through chemical replacement reactions. This kind of net is the least resistant to alkali.
All in all, in terms of the price of insulation mesh cloth, if it is an outdoor project, you need to choose a product with a higher price, because this type of product usually has higher alkali resistance, while if it is an indoor project, you can choose materials that are relatively cheap, because the insulation of indoor walls does not require the use of materials with high alkali resistance. Of course, when making specific purchases, we cannot buy the cheapest materials, otherwise it may affect the quality of the overall project.
