The difference between alkali-resistant and alkali-free fiberglass mesh

Mar 28, 2026

There are many types of mesh cloths on the market, mainly based on the type of glass fiber. There are high-alkali mesh cloths, medium-alkali mesh cloths, and alkali-free mesh cloths.

The difference between mesh cloth
Alkali-resistant mesh cloth is mainly developed to strengthen cement. High-alkali glass is a typical silicate glass that has poor water resistance and is rarely used in the production of glass fiber. E-CR glass is an improved boron-free alkali-free glass, which is used to produce glass fiber with good yogurt water resistance. Its water resistance is eight times better than that of alkali-free glass fiber, and its acid resistance is also much better than that of intermediate glass fiber. It is a new variety specially developed for underground pipes, storage tanks, etc.
In addition to the above glass fiber components, a new alkali-free glass fiber mesh has recently appeared, which does not contain boron at all, thereby reducing environmental pollution, but its electrical insulation properties and mechanical properties are similar to traditional E glass fiber.
There is also a kind of glass fiber with a double glass fiber composition, which has been used in the production of glass wool and is said to have potential in fiberglass reinforced materials. In addition, there is fluorine-free glass fiber, which is an improved alkali-free glass fiber developed for environmental protection requirements.
