Is galvanized steel wire welded mesh better than fiberglass mesh?
Galvanized steel wire is made by drawing high-quality carbon structural steel such as 45#, 65#, and 70#, and then galvanizing (electro-galvanizing or hot-dip galvanizing).
Physical properties: The surface of galvanized steel wire is smooth and bright, without cracks, knots, thorns, scars and rust. The galvanized layer is uniform, with strong adhesion, long-lasting corrosion resistance, and excellent durability and elasticity. The tensile strength should be between 900Mpa-2200Mpa (wire diameter Φ0.2mm-Φ4.4mm). The number of changes (Φ0.5mm) should be more than 20 times, and the repeated twists should be more than 13 times.
Cracks on galvanized steel mesh block masonry walls are a common quality problem in construction projects. Hot-dip galvanized steel wire mesh plays an increasingly important role in the insulation of exterior wall buildings due to its solid structure, strong integrity, and high corrosion resistance.
Crack-resistant protective layer for tile facings. After the insulation layer is cured and dried, apply the first layer of anti-cracking mortar, with the thickness controlled at 2 to 3 mm. Cut the four-corner mesh into sections according to the structure size for paving. The longest length should not exceed 3m. Pre-fold the four-corner mesh at the corners into right angles. During the process of cutting the mesh, the mesh must not be folded. Net pockets should not be formed during the paving process. After the net is opened, it should be laid flat and flat in the direction. Fiberglass mesh
iberglass mesh cloth is based on fiberglass woven fabric and soaked in polymer anti-emulsion coating. It has excellent alkali resistance, flexibility, and high tensile strength in the longitudinal and latitudinal directions, and can be widely used for interior and exterior wall insulation, waterproofing, crack resistance, etc. of buildings. Fiberglass mesh is mainly alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh. It is made of medium-sized alkali-free glass fiber yarn (the main component is silicate and has good chemical stability) and is twisted and woven with a special design structure - leno design. After that, it is treated with a high-temperature heat setting such as an alkali-resistant solution and enhancer.
Fiberglass mesh cloth plays a stress-relaxing role in the external insulation system. Together with the plaster, it forms the protective surface layer of the external insulation system to resist surface cracking caused by changes in natural temperature and humidity and accidental impacts. The performance of the fiberglass mesh and its compatibility with the plastering glue are also factors that must be considered in the external insulation system's resistance to cracking.
From the above two points, it is not difficult to see that the effects of galvanized steel wire mesh and fiber mesh cloth in exterior wall insulation construction are the same, but galvanized steel wire mesh is more suitable for various wall materials than fiber mesh cloth. Generally, if we are at the corner of the wall, we also need to install galvanized steel mesh at the intersection of masonry and concrete beams and columns to improve the overall performance of the surface material. Fiber mesh cloth is also used in the construction of roof waterproof coatings. We often say that fiber cloth can be used for three coatings of one cloth and four coatings of one cloth.
When the exterior facing tiles, the reinforced structure of "galvanized four-corner steel mesh" is better than the reinforced structure of "alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh". Galvanized four-corner steel wire mesh can effectively balance the crack resistance performance and the requirements of the tiles for the underlying strength. The consistency between the two makes the tensile strength of the reinforcement system ≥0.4, which meets the needs of the stability, safety, and durability of the insulation system.
