Compared with organic fibers, glass fibers are characterized by high temperature resistance, non-flammability, corrosion resistance, heat insulation, sound insulation (especially glass wool) and high tensile strength, but they are brittle and have poor wear resistance. Glass fiber is mainly used as electrical insulation material, industrial filter material, anti-corrosion, moisture proof, heat insulation, sound insulation and shock absorber. It can also be used as a reinforcing material for products such as reinforced plastics or reinforced tapes, reinforced gypsum and reinforced cement. Glass fibers coated with organic materials enhance their flexibility and are used to make packaging cloths, window screens, wall-mounting cloths, covering cloths, protective clothing and insulation materials.
