Fiberglass Reinforcing Tape For Stucco

 

Fiberglass reinforcing tape for stucco is a glass-fiber mesh reinforcement used to strengthen joints, cracks, transitions and localized areas in stucco and plaster applications. Stucco Crack Reinforcement: Fiberglass reinforcing tape can be positioned over cracks, joints or transitions and covered with the compatible stucco or repair compound.

1. Select the mesh size

9 × 9 mesh: approximately 3.20 × 3.20 mm

2. Select the weight
The required basis weight depends on the application and reinforcement level.
As a general purchasing reference:

40–75 g/m²: lighter reinforcement and localized crack-control applications

Around 110 g/m²: common wall reinforcement applications

Higher weights up to approximately 165 g/m²: applications requiring a heavier reinforcement structure

For a specific stucco formulation, the tape should be evaluated together with the thickness, curing behavior and mechanical properties of the stucco system.

3. Select self-adhesive or non-adhesive mesh
Self-adhesive fiberglass tape: Suitable when the tape needs to be positioned directly on the substrate before applying the covering compound. The adhesive coating helps keep the mesh in position during installation.

Non-adhesive fiberglass mesh: Used where the mesh is embedded directly into a compatible plaster, stucco, mortar or reinforcement layer.

The two versions should not be treated as interchangeable. Adhesive performance, coating compatibility and installation sequence need to match the customer's application system.

4. Select the tape width
Typical narrow widths are suitable for joints, seams and localized repairs. Wider rolls can be used where continuous surface reinforcement is required. Available widths include 50 mm, 100 mm, 150 mm, 200 mm and wider customized widths.

 

 

Fiberglass reinforcing tape is produced through several controlled stages:
Fiberglass yarn preparation → mesh weaving → coating / chemical treatment → adhesive coating when required → drying and curing → slitting → roll winding → inspection → packaging

Production equipment for fiberglass mesh and self-adhesive tape includes weaving equipment and coating/cutting lines.
